FLINT (“FLINT”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is operated by GODISOFT INC, a company incorporated in Ontario, Canada. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use our website, our Shopify application, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
FLINT is an AI-powered tool that helps Shopify merchants generate blog content for their stores. This Service is intended for business users (merchants). It is not directed to consumers or to children.
By installing or using the Service, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the information we need to provide the Service.
1.1 Shopify Store Data
When you install and use FLINT through Shopify, we access certain data from your store, limited to what the app needs to function:
- Blog content — your existing blog posts and articles (to generate, link, and publish content)
- Product information — product titles, descriptions, images, and handles (to suggest and insert product references in posts)
- Store metadata — your store name, currency, time zone, and default language (used for scheduling and localization)
- Files — cover images you upload, which we store in your Shopify Files
What we do NOT access: FLINT does not request or access your customers’ personal information, orders, checkout data, or payment details. We do not use the read_customers or read_orders Shopify permissions. FLINT only works with your store’s content and product catalog.
1.2 Information You Provide
- Account and contact details — such as your email address and the information associated with your Shopify account
- Brand voice samples — text you optionally paste (up to ~1,000 words) so FLINT can match your writing style. Please do not include other people’s personal information in these samples.
- Topics, keywords, and settings you enter to generate content
- Support communications — messages you send us
1.3 Usage Data
Information about how you use the Service, such as pages visited, features used (e.g., content generation, scheduling), and interaction events. This helps us improve functionality and user experience.
1.4 Device and Technical Information
Technical data we may collect automatically, such as IP address, browser type and version, device type, and operating system.
1.5 Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies on our website to improve performance, understand usage, and enhance your experience. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
- Generate blog posts, SEO titles, meta descriptions, and related content
- Schedule and publish content to your store at your direction
- Improve and optimize the Service and analyze usage trends
- Provide customer support
- Ensure security and prevent misuse
- Comply with our legal obligations
We do not sell your personal or store data. We do not use your store data for advertising or resale.
Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, we process your data on the basis of: performing our contract with you (to provide the Service), our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the Service), your consent (e.g., for non-essential cookies or marketing emails), and compliance with legal obligations.
3. Shopify Data Usage
FLINT is an AI-powered tool designed specifically for Shopify merchants. We access your Shopify store data solely to:
- Generate and enrich blog content
- Provide core app functionality (scheduling, publishing, internal links, product references)
- Improve and secure the Service
We do not use merchant data for advertising, resale, or unauthorized sharing, and we comply with the Shopify API License and Terms of Use, including the requirement not to use store data to train artificial-intelligence models without consent (see Section 5).
4. AI-Generated Content
FLINT uses artificial intelligence to generate content. You acknowledge that:
- Generated content may not always be accurate, complete, original, or suitable for your specific needs, and may occasionally resemble existing third-party content
- All content should be reviewed, edited, and approved by a human before publishing
- You are responsible for all content published in your Shopify store
FLINT does not guarantee the accuracy, originality, or performance of generated content. (See our Terms of Service for the full disclaimer.)
5. AI Providers and How Your Content Is Processed
To generate content, FLINT sends your inputs (such as topics, keywords, brand voice samples, and relevant product or post text) to trusted third-party AI providers that run the language models powering the Service. These providers currently include Anthropic, OpenAI and Google, among others.
We may use your inputs or generated content to train, fine-tune, or develop our internal FLINT AI models. We use these AI providers under their commercial / API terms, under which they may use content submitted through FLINT to train their models. These providers may retain content briefly for security and abuse-monitoring purposes and as required by law.
6. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal or store data. We share information only in these circumstances:
- Service providers that help us operate the platform (e.g., AI providers, hosting and infrastructure, analytics), under contracts that limit their use of the data to providing services to us
- When required by law or legal process
- To protect our rights, our users, or the integrity of the Service
- Business transfers — if GODISOFT INC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction (we will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your data)
7. Third-Party Services
We use third-party services to operate and improve the Service, including AI providers, hosting and infrastructure services, and analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics). These third parties process data in accordance with their own privacy policies.
The Service also operates within Shopify; your use of Shopify is governed by Shopify’s own terms and privacy policy.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain data only for as long as necessary to provide the Service, improve functionality, and comply with legal obligations. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
If you uninstall FLINT, we delete the data associated with your store within 30 days, in line with Shopify’s requirements. This happens automatically when we receive Shopify’s shop/redact request (sent approximately 48 hours after uninstall). Because FLINT does not store your customers’ personal data, Shopify’s customer data-request and customer-redaction requests are acknowledged but require no customer data to be returned or deleted on our side.
You can also request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us (see Section 12).
9. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach affects your information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (for example, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or your EU/UK supervisory authority)

11. International Data Transfers
GODISOFT INC is based in Canada, and our service providers may process data in Canada, the United States, and other countries. Your information may therefore be processed outside your jurisdiction.
Where we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as the European Commission’s recognition of Canada as providing adequate protection, and Standard Contractual Clauses (or equivalent mechanisms) with providers located outside Canada and the EEA — to ensure your data remains protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
12. Children’s Privacy
The Service is intended for businesses and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top when changes are made. For material changes, we will provide reasonable notice — for example, by email or an in-app notice — before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
